The Construction Health and Safety Manual provides accurate, current and comprehensive information on all health, safety and environmental issues throughout the construction process.
 

ACCURATE INFORMATION

The Construction Health and Safety Manual is written by a panel of fourteen leading H&S professionals working hands-on in the construction industry, who give of their time and expertise voluntarily. A senior inspector of the Health and Safety Executive also sits on the panel and all material published is hannelled through the HSE to ensure accuracy.

COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION

Currently the manual comprises of 35 sections covering all aspects of the Health & Safety function as it relates to the industry both for management and operational activities. Advice and guidance needs to be available on the whole range of safety matters for construction and the manual provides it.

  • Legislation, and its supporting Approved Codes of Practice relating to H&S law are usually drafted in legalese, often using terms and language not readily understood by non-legal personnel. The manual addresses this problem by publishing the official text as written and, on the same page, alongside, providing straightforward guidance by explaining and demystifying that text in a simple, understandable form.
  • The same technique is used to summarise Approved Codes of Practice in relation to official text.. Matters not often experienced, such as ‘What to do if you receive a summons’ and ‘How to proceed if you discovery an unexploded bomb’ are simply explained.
  • Sample forms and check lists that can be self-prepared for such things as Lifting Plans and Fire Risk Assessments for Offices are also included.
